Hawkswood House was the first self-catering lodge at Hawkswood Country Estate.
We are dedicated to creating as sustainable a holiday location as possible.
Every room downstairs is individually thermostatically controlled, for improved heating efficiency. The property also has LED bulbs throughout the entire interior and has LED lighting outside.
Lag switches installed in the hallways, which means that lights switch off automatically after a period of time.
The log burners in this property are linked in to the heating system so they can assist the heating when they are lit.
Hawkswood House is surrounded by the stunning Fife countryside and woodland. The beautiful natural environment of the estate is just one of the things that inspires us to work hard to improve the energy efficiency of our self-catering accommodations.
As you can see, we are doing well in terms of energy efficiency at Hawkswood House, but there is still work to do.

The Roundel
The Roundel is one of the most recognisable properties on Hawkswood Country Estate, thanks to the beautiful living and dining room that offers panoramic views of the Fife countryside.
The Roundel is already a highly energy efficient accommodation, and has the potential to become one of the most efficient luxury self-catering lodges in the country.
Each room in the entire house is thermostatically controlled.
There are LED bulbs throughout and LED lighting outside.
The Roundel also has lag switches installed in the hallways which means the lights switch off automatically if you forget them.
The Roundel is a converted farm building.
The thick walls improve heat retention and energy efficiency.

Bowhill House
Bowhill House is the most accessible accommodation in Hawkswood Country Estate.
The entire lodge is on one level. And there are a number of innovations made to improve energy efficiency.
The property also has LED bulbs throughout the interior and has LED lighting outside.
The log burners in this property are linked in to the heating system so they can assist the heating when they are lit.
However, we are investigating ways to make Bowhill House as sustainable as our other accommodations.
